The result of the referendum may cause huge volatility, price gaps and lower liquidity. Forex.ee informs that margin requirements for the currency pairs with EUR and GBP may be increased 5 times in the period starting from 20th of June and ending at 27th of June. This week the decision on the chairmanship of our country Estonia in the EU Council received legal confirmation. The UK has lost this right after Brexit. Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas said that the preparatory work has already begun and the country will successfully meet the challenge. Estonian presidency of the EU was originally scheduled for the first half of 2018, but the country will be granted this status 6 months earlier - in the second half of 2017. The decision was made by 28 permanent representatives of EU member states. The European Council is one of the main legal bodies of the European Union. The Council consists of ministers of EU member states, the composition of which may vary depending on the specifics of the matter under discussion. Estonia, as the presiding country, will have to guide the work of more than 200 working groups of the Council of the European Union for six months. The functional responsibilities of Estonia will include the representation of interests of the European Council in various negotiations and meetings with representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission and third parties. “At present we have allocated 76 million euros for the chairmanship in the EU. This amount is distributed over three years,” Sven Sestet, the Minister of Finance said at the government press conference. It was learned that five million euros from this amount will be spent this year. In preparation for the chairmanship in the EU Estonia will spend € 30 million next year and about 40 million - in 2018. Global markets most feared such a scenario on November 8 and 9. The assessment of political views and campaign promises of Trump was contradictory and uncertain, with high risks for the markets of many countries and investment strategies. In this regard, the very first exit polls and the results of voting in favor of Trump instantly affected the exchange rates, indices and commodity prices.
