In Africa, common types of scams include:

  1. Advance Fee Fraud: Victims are asked to pay fees upfront for services or rewards that never materialize.
  2. Romance Scams: Scammers create fake online profiles to exploit individuals emotionally and financially.
  3. Investment Scams: Promises of high returns on investments that are fraudulent or non-existent.
  4. Lottery Scams: Victims are told they've won a lottery or prize and must pay fees to claim it.
  5. Phishing: Fraudulent attempts to obtain sensitive information by pretending to be a legitimate entity.
  6. Employment Scams: Fake job offers that require payment for training or materials.

Awareness and caution are essential to protect against these scams.
