Oil prices undergo a moderate correction amid progress in US-Iran peace talks WTI crude oil prices had previously reached levels above $102 per barrel, but unexpectedly dropped to the $92.94 range between Monday and Tuesday. Currently, oil prices are hovering between $93 and $97 per barrel. According to the FXOpen chart, yesterday’s trading saw a high of $97.86, a low of $92.84, and a closing price of $95.85. WTI crude oil is experiencing a moderate corrective pullback, triggered by progress in diplomatic negotiations between the US and Iran, mediated by Qatar. Hopes for a de-escalation of geopolitical tensions have reduced the potential for oil supply disruptions in the Middle East. However, the risk of disruption has not entirely vanished; a US strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island suggests that tensions have not fully subsided. Following a strong uptrend in October, the market has begun to see profit-taking. The easing of geopolitical risks has prompted prices to consolidate back toward a lower equilibrium range. Investors are currently awaiting the release of weekly crude oil inventory data from the EIA, as well as monthly stock reports, to gauge US consumption and supply levels. Market forecasts suggest an increase in crude oil inventories of approximately 900,000 barrels. An increase in inventories could exert downward pressure on oil prices, while a decline could trigger a rebound. Key US economic data to watch today include the ADP Employment report, the ISM Services PMI, and the EIA crude oil inventory figures. While strong economic data could bolster the USD, its impact on oil prices will also depend on the outlook for energy demand. From a technical perspective, XTIUSD remains above the 50-period exponential moving average (EMA50). The RSI indicator sits at 49, suggesting that some bearish pressure may still persist. The projected trading range for WTI is estimated to be between $93.50 and $98.50. Immediate support is around 94.80, with a further target near $93.50. Immediate resistance is around 97.20, with a further target near $98.50. This forecast could be wrong.
