Eco-Friendly Drain Opener

The next time a clogged drain has you frustrated, skip the commercial drain cleaners. They’re not only extremely toxic, they can actually harm the pipes in your home if you use them frequently. Try this safe and inexpensive method instead.

Pack your drain with about 1/2 cup of baking soda, then pour in 1 cup of vinegar. Keep the drain covered for about 10 minutes, then flush it out with a teapot filled with boiling water. Bonus: the baking soda and boiling water also work as a drain freshener and help maintain the proper pH of your septic system.
