alice29 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 There has never been a book written in the same way as the Bible! * The Bible was written by over 40 authors… * who wrote from 3 different continents: Asia, Africa and Europe… * in many different places: wilderness, prison, traveling, islands… * at different times; covering a span of 1,500 years… * who did different kinds of jobs: fishermen, kings, shepherds, a herdsman, a politician, a doctor, a tax collector, a rabbinical scholar and more. They all wrote about the same thing, and without any contradictions! :biggrin:

pjbabia Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 yes we have bible but the bible i wanted is a Douay Rhiems Bible, it is a Latin Vulgate... but it is very expensive and it is not sold anywhere. you have to go to Switzerland to buy one.

pjbabia Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 the Latin Vulagate is in English, taken from the word Vulgata which means approved by the Church.. the Douay Rhiems are the accepted and more accurate translation of the Latin Vulgate.

pjbabia Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 there is actually a store in Manila on Our Lady of Victories Church in New Manila Quezon City. They sell Douay Rheim Bible. I think its 3000 Pesos per copy. Their difference is that the Douay Rheim version have accurate translation while the newer versions do have a lot of mis interpreted translation and most of them are Protestant Bible.

I think its the same with other sub branches of Christianity to remove any books they don't find fit. But anyway, for a clean, not provocative discussion sake's let's leave this job to the religious heads and its their burden later for keeping some of the holy books away from the public's knowledge.

This book formed the European civilization and its influence quite difficult to underestimate. All these make the Bible so amazing. Well, in my humble opinion, of course.
