The reason why we nod our heads for “yes” and shake it for “no” was first explained by Charles Darwin. He related the gestures to a baby’s nursing habits. The nod, the forward head motion, is the breast-seeking pattern. Shaking the head from side to side – gesturing “no” – is a breast-rejecting motion. This is confirmed by the fact that a baby born deaf and blind will nod for yes and shake its head for no.

I really wondered how this happend? who invented that on whatever ways. But it seems that it is a general gesture that every people in the world do it. So it is some what instinctive. Now I know where is come from.

how did you know that? did you make some research about it? it is indeed confusing for us to know how this happen. it must be cultural so that there are other countries that do not apply to this, perhaps.

yes, i did some research on it and you are right it's kind of cultural why they're doing it. it was a way of fooling their enemies before.

I don't ever know this fact until there is person who shared in here. I think that is natural reaction from people to do that action.

@ neng, we got the idea from a baby because he/she doesn't speak yet. so the emotions are best to see in their actions. i'm glad sharing informations to people who doesn't know about it yet.
