The Unfair Truth About Gas Fees: Why Must We Pay?

Recommended Posts

There's one thing in the crypto space that we've grown accustomed to, but that doesn't make it right. I'm talking about gas fees. Everyone's familiar with them, but have you ever stopped to think about why we're forced to pay them, even for simple deposits?

I remember my early days trading on Trust Wallet, trying to buy meme coins to get to PancakeSwap. The gas fees were staggering, and I'd often reduce the slippage to the lowest possible level just to make it work.

Despite the frustration, I still believe big exchanges can do better. However, the problem persists, and it's even more glaring when depositing small airdrop projects with unknown potential. You'll often see gas fees deducted, leaving you wondering: where is that money going?

My recent experience with the $ROAM airdrop sparked this rant. I received the airdrop for simply checking in on over 10 certified WiFis. Now, I'm struggling to find an exchange that allows zero gas fee deposits like Bitget and other reputable exchanges. Since my airdrop earnings were modest, I don't want the exchange to take everything in gas fees.

It's time to question the status quo and demand more transparency from exchanges. Why must we pay gas fees for deposits? Is it really necessary, or is it just another way for exchanges to profit from our transactions?
