Could Decentralized Naming Be the Future of Online Identity?

Recommended Posts

Managing our online identities has always been a hassle. Long, impersonal wallet addresses and generic usernames - it just feels so disconnected from who we really are. That's why I'm intrigued by the idea of decentralized naming systems. They give us a chance to pick a name that's actually meaningful and own it, since these names are stored as NFTs.

One example is SuiNS, a naming service built on the Sui blockchain. With SuiNS, you can create your own personalized name and link it to things like an avatar or your personal website. You can even get involved in governing the platform if you hold the NS token, which is already listed on exchanges like Bitget. The price is already ar 0.58$ and going up in this bullish market. We'll see how much it goes!image.thumb.png.52b45124d924b28c7c8af5e5624dcfeb.png

At first glance, decentralized names might just seem like a cool new Web3 feature. But I can't help wondering if they could actually change the way we think about our digital identities in a deeper way. Owning a name that's unique to us, that we can use across different apps and platforms, that feels like it could be a game changer. It makes our online selves feel more real, more authentic.
