I just use the hose pipe and very strong cleaner and lay the BBQ on its side and hose the hell out of it to clean it. It works well as it collects alot of ash after awhile. I do it on the grass and the ash is good for the soil.

Abundant oxygen makes the coals burn hot and fast. Limited oxygen decreases cooking temperatures and lets the coals burn more slowly. The vents on the top and bottom of your grill let you change the flow of oxygen to increase, decrease and stabilize coal temperatures.
