SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, and it is a protocol designed to provide secure communication over a computer network. SSL has been succeeded by Transport Layer Security (TLS), but the terms are often used interchangeably. The primary purpose of SSL/TLS is to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data exchanged between a user's web browser and a website's server. It achieves this by encrypting the data transmitted between the two parties, making it difficult for unauthorized entities to intercept and understand the information.

SSL, or Secure Socket Layer, is a crucial security protocol ensuring encrypted communication between a user's browser and a website. It safeguards sensitive data like passwords and credit card details, enhancing online security and trust. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a security protocol that encrypts data exchanged between a user’s browser and a website. It's used to create secure connections between devices and applications on a network and helps to build trust among users to share data. SSL certificate ensures privacy, protects sensitive information like passwords and payment details, and builds confidence by showing the padlock symbol in the browser. It is essential for secure online transactions and preventing data theft. It’s widely used on websites to safeguard user interactions.
