Gambling and price amount deduction

Hey guys,

 

I'm an Indian citizen, and it's been six years since I moved to Canada. Most of my Canadian friends are great gamblers, and I learned gambling from them. Casinos are my favourite for spending time on weekends. But due to the COVID pandemic, everything is a mess. I have won many games, and it was always distressing when the IRS deducted 30% of the price amount. So only the deducted price amounts were given to us. Recently, I got to know that it is possible to get a refund of these taxes. I heard that this law applies only to Canadian citizens. It will take a few more months for me to get the PR of Canada.

 

To know in detail, I plan to consult a tax rebate service in Canada. Is there anyone here who knows about tax rebate law? Can I apply for this after getting PR? Please share your suggestions.

Thanks for your feedback. I know quite a few players who prefer to play in the Canadian legal space (for various reasons). However, I myself had the opportunity to compare tax policies in relation to winnings both in Canada and in Asian countries. To be honest, I like the latter option. Wow, I didn't even know you could get a refund of these taxes. That's really great, though! I have lived in this country for my entire life, and I had no idea about that! I don't know anything about Canada and the tax deductions there, but I have a friend who lives there, and he told me their deductions are insane. Considering that I live in Texas and our deductions aren't that big, I was stunned by the sums and percentages he told me about. Actually, I don't understand why our governmet should tax the bets.
