Review Sites Legitimate?

i'm researching selling some old jewelry because i know there are a lot of scams out there. i've found several cash for gold reviews sites but am wondering how to tell if they are legitimate sites or simply part of the scams. is there a quick way to tell? i've called in and talked to a person on the phone but that obviously isn't always the truth.
